Entourage effect: the effect of cannabinoids and terpenes are working together in perfect synergy. Most animal studies with cannabidiol (CBD) utilize synthetic, single-molecule CBD produced by biochemical laboratories for research purposes. In contrast, whole plant extractions typically include CBD, THC, and more than 400 trace compounds. Many of these compounds interact synergistically to create what scientists refer to as an “entourage effect” that magnifies the therapeutic benefits of the plant’s individual components—so that the medicinal impact of the whole plant is greater than the sum of its parts.

New Orleans native Mariah Grimes is passionate about CBD and its rapidly growing uses. I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 13 and have been heavily prescription medicated since 2004. Although the seizures were for the most part controlled, my anxiety levels remained high and untreated. Not wanting to prescription medicate once again, I looked into CBD. After experimenting with different dosages and types of CBD, I made it a part of my daily routine and continue to research its benefits for my family and friends. The more I learn, the more hopeful I am for others who share similar issues.
